I am so excited to enter another summer of day camp at Youth in Motion South Shore Center. Summer camp is such a special experience that teaches campers how to build courage, confidence and character. At a time where our youth are spending more time online than ever before, camp gives them the rare and essential opportunity to unplug and create meaningful social interactions with both their peers and counselors.
It is my number one goal as the director, to keep campers safe while they are under the care of my staff team. As a camp licensed by the state of Wisconsin, we strive to be compliant with the DCF-252 licensing rules and regulations. Our staff will complete over 40 hours of training prior to the start of camp in various areas including CPR, First Aid and behavior management techniques. Training will be a key component as we prepare for our summer.
We could not be happier with how our first summer of camp went last year. We have taken parent feedback into consideration while planning for this summer. We have amped up our Enrichment Camp Program, made some new and exciting improvements to our space outside and have a implemented a fantastic character building system for this summer with our camp core values in mind. We have also decided to give our camp an official name, Camp Tamarack, to establish traditions and give us an identity.
As someone who attended camp as a child and worked many summers as a counselor, I have seen first-hand the impact that summer camp makes on a child’s life. Campers discover themselves while at camp, because they are given the opportunity to take risks, meet new people and try new things. The friendships and memories made at camp truly last a lifetime.
Our day camp team is looking forward to building meaningful relationships with you and your family this summer. Please join us at one of our Open Houses or Parent Orientation to meet our staff, learn more about camp and get a chance to tour our center and campground. We will officially kick off summer with a Welcome Back Luau on Friday, June 8th from 5:00-7:00 PM at Camp Tamarack!
Welcome to our Camp Tamarack Family!
