SWIM LESSONS

Parent/Child Lessons
(6m – 36m, Small Pool) 

These classes are for infants ages 6 months to 36 months and an adult.  The objectives for these levels are getting the children comfortable with the water and learning basic water skills through songs and games.  This is a great way to spend time with your child while you both learn about the importance of swimming. An adult must be in the pool with the child at each class.  

A child must be at least 6 months of age 

A child must comfortable and familiar with skills taught in Lobster and 18 months of age.

Preschool Age
(2 ½  – 5 years, Small Pool and Large Pool) 

A child must be at least 2 ½  years and have an adult in the pool with them.  

This class is for children not quite ready to be on their own in the water.  The objective for this level is for children to gain independence needed to participate in lessons without a parent/adult in the water with them.  Children and adults will learn basic skills of swimming, blowing bubbles, learning to float, kicking and using their arms.

If your child is ready to be in the water without you there is no need for this level.  

A child must be at least 3 years of age.  

This level is for children ready to be in the water on their own with the help of an instructor.  The objective for this level is for the child to learn basic skills of swimming, blowing bubbles, learning to float, kicking and using their arms. These skills will be done with the assistance of an instructor.

In order to pass this level, children will show that they are able to do some of the skills independently.

A child is able to perform some skills from Sea Monkey independently.  

This level is for children that have met the requirements of Sea Monkey.  The objective of this level is for children to begin performing skills learned in Sea Monkey at a slightly more advanced level and learn a few new skills with the assistance of an instructor.

In order to pass this level, children will show that they are able to do most of these skills independently.

A child able to perform most of the skills from Sea Horse independently.

This level is for children that have met the requirements of Sea Horse.   The objective of this level is for children to continue refining skills learned in the previous two levels.  Children will participate in a more guided practice and increase their independence to move on to “School Age” levels.

In order to pass into the “School Age” level, children will be able to perform all the skills independently.

Learn to Swim Levels
(6 – 12 years old, Large Pool)

Prerequisites; no skills required, children should be 5 ½ or 6 to start this level.

This level is for children that are beginner swimmers.  The objective of this level is for children to be introduced to basic water skills.  These skills include entering/exiting the pool safely and independently, blowing bubbles, treading water, learning to float, kicking and using their arms.  These skills are done with the assistance of an instructor.

In order to pass this level, children will need to show they are comfortable and confident in the water and can perform most of these skills independently.   

Prerequisites; Successful completion of all three preschool levels or clownfish.

This level is for children looking to continue improving skills learned in clownfish or preschool levels.  The objective for this level is for children to take the skills learned in earlier levels and build off them while learning new skills such as rhythmic breathing during a front crawl, elementary backstroke, and sidestroke.

In order to pass this level, children will need to swim 25 yards on their front, back, and side.  

Prerequisites; Successful completion of Jellyfish or appropriate skill level.   

This level is for children looking to expand proficiency of previously learned skills.  The objective of this level is for children to continue to build on skills learned and learn back crawl plus breaststroke.  

In order to pass this level, children will need to swim over 25 yards on their front, back, and side.

Prerequisites; Successful completion of Unicornfish or appropriate skill level

This level is for children looking to improve their aquatic skills and increase their endurance. The objective of this level is for children to improve on their stroke skills.  Children will be introduced to butterfly stroke.

In order to pass this level, children will need to swim 50 yards on their front, back, side, and 25 yards in breaststroke style.

Prerequisites;  Successful completion of Lion Fish or appropriate skills level  

This level is for children looking to refine their performance of all six strokes. The objective of this level is for children to increase their swimming distance that they are able to swim.  

When all six strokes are mastered and children are able to perform each one at a fair distance, they are able to move onto swordfish, competitive swim lessons, or swim team.  

Prerequisites; Must be a skilled swimmer (passing all “Learn to Swim” levels) or looking for refinement.  Swimmers must be able to swim 200 yards without a noodle or belt.

This level is for children looking to refine their techniques and improve the efficiency/effectiveness of their strokes.  The objective of this level is to become a better, faster swimmer.

This level focuses on three different areas; Personal Water Safety, Fundamentals of Diving and Fitness Swimming.
